This paid position offers an opportunity to work closely with or Motherreceiving hospic care services.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or catheter care as needed
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to track health status
- Administer medications following prescribed schedules and document medication administration in medical records or electronic health record (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Observe patient conditions closely, noting changes in behavior or health status related to dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other cognitive impairments
- Support with meal preparation and nutritional needs while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the home environment
- Provide companionship and emotional support tailored to the needs of our Mother experiencing hospice or dementia care needs
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly using medical documentation protocols and electronic systems to ensure accurate medical records are maintained
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health agencies, or long-term care environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity documenting
- Hands-on experience assisting with complex medical procedures such as catheter care, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to patient care scenarios
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is advantageous
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) required; additional certifications like hospice care training or dementia care are a plus
- Ability to handle physical tasks involving lifting or transferring patients safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; comfortable performing cleaning and laundry duties as part of comprehensive home care
