SUMMARY: Be an integral part of a small dedicated team of CNC machinists, setters/operators, reporting directly to the Machinist Team Leader. Responsible for set-up and operating machines to produce precision parts. Produces small batches or large quantities of parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*includes the following; however, other duties may be assigned.)
- Operate machines such as lathes and milling machines to produce parts.
- Review work routers, drawings or specifications for a job.
- Select tools and materials for the job from the work routers.
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards set forth by Minnich Manufacturing
- Position workpieces on the drill press, lathe, or milling machine.
- Ensure workpiece is properly lubricated and/or cooled.
- Ability to detect problems by listening for specific sounds.
- Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
- Follow all company rules and policies.
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
- Ability to load parts, operate controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
- Lift raw materials, final products, manually, or using a forklift.
- Uphold all safety standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High School education.
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training in a machinist field.
- Experience with machined materials.
- Knowledge in use of calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, and indicators.
- Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and other techniques for maximizing the efficiency of the department.
- Ability to identify/measure material, ability to read drawings/prints, and interpret solid models.
- Ability to produce quality products consistently.
- Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form.
- Willingness to learn, be reliable and have a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
- Some understanding of CNC programming a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to factional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents
- Ability to stand continuously for long periods of time.
- Willing to work 40+ hours a week.
