Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within various accounting software systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections using platforms like Paychex, ADP, Ceridian, or UltiPro.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations to verify financial accuracy.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing activities following GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Support account analysis, budgeting, credit analysis, and financial data analysis through Excel data analysis and spreadsheet management.
- Handle confidential financial information with integrity while maintaining compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements.
- Assist with bookkeeping tasks such as double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and ledger maintenance using accounting systems like PeopleSoft or Kronos.
- Contribute to internal audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting audit procedures related to governmental or public accounting standards.
- Deliver excellent customer service by responding promptly to internal inquiries related to accounts and financial transactions.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong foundation in accounting concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Familiarity with various financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro or similar platforms is highly preferred.
- Prior experience with accounts payable/receivable management and general ledger reconciliation is essential.
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX compliance requirements, and governmental or public sector accounting standards is advantageous.
- Strong numeracy skills combined with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—especially Excel for data analysis—are required.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for handling high volumes of transactions accurately.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining high levels of professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
