Description: Job Summary:
The Register PM Attendant is responsible for controlling access to the cafeteria during meal service by ensuring that all students properly scan their SMC ID cards and are cleared for entry. This position verifies meal plan eligibility, assists students with entry concerns, provides excellent customer service and accepts payments from non-students & Commuters.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensure all students properly scan their SMC ID cards and are cleared for entry into the cafeteria.
- Collect and process payments from commuters, faculty, staff, guests, and other non-meal plan customers.
- Provide friendly, professional, and courteous customer service to all guests entering the dining facility.
- Open the register area on time and ensure all equipment and supplies are ready for service.
- Close the register at the end of service and complete all required closing procedures.
- Balance and reconcile the cash drawer at the end of each shift, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary register and entrance area.
- Assist with cleaning duties throughout the cafeteria, including dining areas, beverage stations, and service areas as needed.
- Restock dining room supplies, condiments, beverages, utensils, and other service items during and after meal periods.
- Monitor and restock dessert stations to ensure products remain available and attractively presented.
- Assist with general cafeteria operations and support other Dining Services team members as needed.
- Report customer concerns, equipment issues, or operational problems to a supervisor promptly.
- Follow all Dining Services policies, food safety standards, and customer service expectations.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge to keep all storage presentable, clean, and functional.
- Ability to speak and comprehend English, being able to communicate and interact with the SMC community.
- Must have the skills to work with others.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized working environment.
- Knowledge in the operation of the following equipment: Vacuum, broom and mop, golf cart

Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in extreme conditions of hot and cold (coolers, freezers, and hot equipment)
- Stand on Concrete floors for periods of time.
- Job duties will require work mostly indoors sometimes we will be outdoors for catering.
- Must be able to work on potentially hazardous surfaces (i.e., wet floors)
- Work with and around hazardous chemical solutions (cleaning supplies)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. throughout the day.
- Ability to work on your feet for the entire length of the shift.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand and move around the campus.
- Ability to use equipment to maintain clean dining hall.
- Sufficient near vision acuity to read production sheets and line diagrams, in hand-written form, and printed on paper.
- Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person.
