As a Security Officer, you will provide professional security services while responding to a variety of situations requiring strong judgment, compassion, and communication skills.

As a Security Officer, you will:
Provide security services to maintain a safe, orderly environment for patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
Conduct routine patrols throughout hospital buildings, grounds, and parking areas by foot, bicycle, and/or vehicle in all weather conditions.
Escort patients, visitors, employees, and students upon request.
Provide key assistance and access support to authorized personnel in various hospital areas.
Monitor for suspicious activity and respond appropriately to safety and security concerns.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and safety events while preserving evidence and completing required documentation.
Interview witnesses and prepare accurate written and verbal reports.
Respond professionally to stressful, emergency, or potentially hostile situations.
Assist clinical teams with Baker Act and Marchman Act patient situations in accordance with Florida statutes and approved procedures.
Support law enforcement and correctional officers with patient/prisoner intake and security needs.
Assist with high-risk and restricted-access patient situations.
Respond to emergency situations including:
Workplace violence or threats.
Hostage situations.
Patient elopement.
Abductions.
Fire alarms and emergency response.
Severe weather events.
Hazardous material incidents.
Bomb threats and suspicious packages.
Facility emergencies and system failures.
Provide security support for helicopter arrivals and departures, including helipad safety and patient transport assistance.
Operate walk-through and handheld metal detection equipment.
Enforce access control procedures and state-issued injunction requirements.
Assist leaders with employee escort services when needed.
Document incidents, including safety events and liability-related reports.
Provide testimony or court documentation when required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for incident and report writing.
Valid Florida driver's license.
Ability to meet Orlando Health insurance requirements for vehicle operation.
Ability to obtain and maintain required security certifications.
Candidates must obtain the following certifications within required timeframes:
Florida Class “D” Security Officer License through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services within 120 days of hire.
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 120 days of hire.
Basic Security Officer Certification or higher through the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 120 days of hire.
All required certifications must remain active throughout employment.
Previous hospital, healthcare, law enforcement, military, or security experience.
Experience handling emergency response situations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional during high-pressure situations.
Strong customer service mindset with the ability to interact with diverse populations.
