The role of Community Education (CE) Coordinator serves as an integral part of the Advocacy and Education Department of Advocacy Unlimited. The CE Coordinator publicizes, organizes, and facilitates (as appropriate) a variety of educational offerings and serves as a community resource, point of contact and advocate for peer-led, holistic approaches to recovery from mental health, addiction, and trauma. This position requires a passion for the peer movement, strong communication skills, and the willingness to network with community partners to enhance the mission of Advocacy Unlimited.
The Community Education Coordinator is an important public face of Advocacy Unlimited. For this reason, it is critical that the Community Education Coordinator is reliable, courteous, helpful, outgoing, and highly knowledgeable about the organization. This position will also require the Coordinator to be a self-starter, take the initiative for developing programs, and work both independently and as part of a team, to help Advocacy Unlimited meet its contractual obligations.
FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYMENT: 37.5 regularly scheduled hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours. $26 per hour, 180 day introductory period with performance evaluation at the conclusion of this period. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Maintain up-to-date administrative records for all community educational offerings, and organize:
- at minimum 6 community information sessions.
- at minimum 4 webinars, annually, and 1 per quarter.
- at minimum 6 RSS continuing education trainings, annually, and within at least 3 DMHAS Regions.
- at minimum 4 peer forums, annually, including 1 per quarter and within at least 3 DMHAS Regions.
- at minimum 2 advocacy trainings, annually.
- at minimum 2 problem gambling trainings, annually.
- at minimum 3 Wellness Recovery Action Planning trainings, annually.
- at minimum 8 Peer Advocacy Network meetings, annually.
- Organize and Co-facilitate Wellness Recovery Action Plan Training
- Organize and Co-host Peer Advocacy Network Meetings
- Host all webinars, continuing education trainings, peer forums, and advocacy training.
- Carry out community outreach, including attending and tabling at conferences and events across CT, as assigned.
- Recruit training facilitators within the state, regionally, and nationally.
- Maintain and document membership and regular attendance on at least one assigned state committee or board
- Generate marketing material and collaborate with PRS Program Manager and Director to update digital content across online platforms and the AU Newsletter
- Champion AU organized community education as an ambassador of the organization.
- Meet all internal accountability standards.
- Attend team meetings and trainings
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and follow-through in program coordination
- Communicate proactively with internal and external partners to support successful program delivery
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
3+ years of progressive administrative experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Certified Recovery Support Specialist, or eligible for certification
Experience with social media
Experience with quality assurance
Experience with project management
Ability to work independently with high degree of personal accountability
Recovery-oriented, inclusive, and leads by example
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent mediation and conflict resolution skills
Excellent problem-solving skill, creative flexibility, and solution focused
High emotional intelligence and ability to receive critique
High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
Must have a clean driving record, up to date motor vehicle insurance and current driver’s license.
Must have access to a reliable and clean vehicle for statewide travel.
