JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Manager, Retail Services is responsible for the leadership, management, and strategic oversight of Auxiliary Enterprises retail operations, including three on-campus retail stores and the department's eCommerce platform. This position oversees daily operations, staff supervision and development, inventory management, customer service, financial performance, and technology systems to ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery. The Operations Manager works collaboratively with campus stakeholders, vendors, and service partners to enhance retail services, improve operational processes, implement technology solutions, and support departmental goals. This role is critical in driving operational excellence across both physical and online retail channels while promoting a positive customer experience.

JOB DUTIES
Responsible for the daily operations of campus retail stores, e-commerce platforms, and related retail service functions, ensuring efficient, customer-focused operations and compliance with university, local, state, and federal regulations.
Manages retail staff operations including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, coaching, performance management, and employee development to promote high levels of customer service and operational performance.
Develops, implements, and monitors operational procedures, workflows, service standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and customer experience across all retail channels.
Oversee inventory management processes including purchasing, receiving, stock replenishment, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, loss prevention, product lifecycle management, and merchandise availability.
Collaborates with vendors, suppliers, campus departments, and other stakeholders to manage product selection, merchandising strategies, pricing structures, promotional initiatives, and service enhancements aligned with departmental and institutional goals.
Reviews and analyzes operational, finance, sales, inventory, labor, customer service, and e-commerce performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, revenue growth, and strategic decision-making.
Assists in the development and management of annual operating budgets, revenue projections, expense controls, and fiscal planning for retail operations.
Oversees the implementation, administration, and optimization of retail technology systems, including point-of-sale systems, inventory management platforms, reporting tools, operational dashboards, e-commerce systems, procurement portals, and related technology integrations.
Leads and participates in operational projects including store renovations, merchandising updates, process redesigns, new service implementations, workflow automation initiatives, and capital improvement projects.
Ensures compliance with cash handling procedures, safety standards, audit requirements, inventory controls, purchasing requirements, billing practices, and university operational policies.
Represents Auxiliary Enterprises in meetings, committees, and collaborative campus initiatives related to retail operations, customer service, technology enhancements, and operational planning.
Oversee the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of retail and departmental e-commerce websites, online storefronts, product catalogs, and digital ordering platforms, ensuring functionality, usability, branding consistency, accessibility compliance, and positive customer experience.
Oversee Internal Departmental Requisitions (IDR) and procurement portal operations, including catalog management, pricing accuracy, order processing, workflow routing, billing coordination, fulfillment support, reporting, and continuous process improvement to ensure efficient and compliant service delivery.
Provides hands-on operational leadership and routinely performs and supports frontline operational duties as needed to meet business demands, ensure service continuity, and maintain operational standards.
