Duties
- Safely operate roll-off trucks, including front loader and rear loader garbage trucks, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Load, unload, and transport dumpsters to designated locations while ensuring proper handling of heavy materials through manual lifting techniques.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform basic mechanical checks, and report any maintenance needs to ensure optimal truck performance.
- Follow all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation laws, and hazardous materials regulations during route driving and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, route details, and service records in compliance with company policies.
- Interact professionally with customers during drop-offs and pickups to provide excellent customer service and address any inquiries or concerns.
- Ensure safe loading and unloading procedures using front-end loaders or other equipment when necessary, always prioritizing safety protocol adherence.
Skills
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as roll-off trucks, front loader trucks, or rear loader garbage trucks.
- Strong knowledge of heavy lifting techniques combined with mechanical knowledge for basic truck maintenance.
- Solid understanding of traffic laws, DOT regulations, air brake systems, and state transportation regulations relevant to commercial driving.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on defensive driving practices to ensure safety on busy routes.
- Familiarity with solid waste management procedures including municipal waste collection and hazardous materials regulations.
- Outstanding customer service skills to foster positive interactions with clients during service calls.
- Outdoor work experience that demonstrates adaptability to various weather conditions and physical demands involved in load & unload tasks.
