DESCRIPTION. The City of Creedmoor, conveniently located approximately 20 miles north of Raleigh and northeast of Durham, is seeking an experienced Building & Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform facilities maintenance, grounds upkeep, various public works duties, and assist with special projects.
An employee in this class performs manual labor, typically outdoors, to maintain city-owned buildings & grounds through mowing, landscaping maintenance, and other related property and facility maintenance duties. Employee also serves as laborer for general street maintenance and repair projects as well as other public works projects. Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as confined spaces, loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils. Employees may be subject to occasional call-back work. Work is evaluated through observation and inspection for adherence to instructions and standard trade and safety practices.
QUALIFICATIONS.
Successful candidate is desired to have a high school diploma, or equivalent, and prior work experience in landscaping and/or grounds maintenance. Possession of a valid NC driver’s license with clean driving record, ability to pass a routine physical examination and pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check are required. Possession of NC pesticide applicator license is preferred.
SALARY. The starting salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $37,477 to $45,507 based on qualifications and experience.
