Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and assist with appointment scheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear and courteous communication while addressing patient inquiries and appointment requests
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and facilitate insurance claims processing in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review and update medical records accurately, ensuring proper documentation review and adherence to clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist with medical billing processes including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, Medicare claims, and medical collection procedures
- Support clinical staff by managing patient intake forms, data entry, and maintaining organized filing systems for medical records and reports
- Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office and EHR management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix to ensure efficient office operations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative support role with clinic or dental experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including verification, billing, and claims processing; familiarity with Meditech, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable
- Excellent phone etiquette, customer service skills, and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently
- Knowledge of medical terminology, dental terminology (if applicable), and clinical confidentiality policies such as HIPAA
- Proficiency in computer skills including typing (10 key typing), Microsoft Office applications, and electronic health record management software
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and accurate data entry
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion
