Overview
The Dietary Cook plays a vital role in preparing nutritious and appealing meals for our clients, ensuring that dietary restrictions and preferences are met. This position requires a passion for food preparation and an understanding of dietary needs, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Dietary Cook will collaborate with other kitchen staff to deliver high-quality meals while maintaining food safety standards.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in menu planning, taking into consideration nutritional needs and preferences of clients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper food storage practices.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and cooking appliances.
- Collaborate with dietary aides to serve meals and ensure client satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist in ordering as needed.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on food handling practices and dietary requirements.
Skills
- Proven experience as a cook in the food industry, preferably in an assisted living community.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, including knife skills and meal presentation.
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions and special meal preparation for various health conditions.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and clients.
- Attention to detail to ensure quality control in food preparation and presentation.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately while also being creative in meal preparation.
