We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Safety Director specializing in Renewables and Heavy Civil Construction projects. Your expertise will ensure strict adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, NEC (National Electrical Code), and other relevant regulations, fostering a culture of safety excellence. Position Overview:
The Safety Director is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs and policies at the designated site, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a safe working environment. This role reports directly to the Vice President and involves collaborating with various departments to develop and maintain effective safety strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development:
- Collaborate with others to develop, implement, and continually improve site-specific safety programs and policies.
- Ensure alignment with company-wide safety initiatives and industry best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed about local, state, and federal safety regulations, ensuring the site's compliance with all relevant standards.
- Conduct regular audits to identify and address any potential compliance issues.
- Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Monitor and track employee training records to ensure all personnel are adequately trained on safety protocols.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and other incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and submit findings to the Safety Director.
- Safety Inspections:
- Conduct routine safety inspections of the site, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address safety concerns promptly.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for the site.
- Coordinate regular drills and training exercises to ensure personnel are adequately prepared for emergencies.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Foster a culture of safety by promoting open communication and collaboration among employees.
- Work closely with other departments to integrate safety considerations into daily operations.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including inspections, training, and incidents.
- Ensure documentation is organized and readily accessible for internal and external audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a safety management role, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in occupational health and safety is preferred.
- Familiarity with safety management software and tools.
