Duties
- Conduct patient intake procedures, including obtaining medical histories, verifying information, and updating electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
- Measure and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist healthcare providers during patient evaluations, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by licensed healthcare professionals and according to established protocols.
- Schedule appointments, coordinate patient referrals, and manage clinical documentation accurately.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and assist with diagnostic testing procedures.
- Maintain exam rooms, medical equipment, and supplies while ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards.
- Educate patients regarding treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
- Support patient flow and provide outstanding customer service to ensure a positive healthcare experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical procedures.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems and medical documentation.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles is preferred.
- Ability to accurately obtain and record patient vital signs and medical information.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, urgent care, pediatrics, dermatology, or specialty clinics is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to patient confidentiality.
