Job Description
Sets up and operates CNC lathes, milling and drill machines, presses, grinders, saws and other machines to construct metal parts and assemblies. Build new and improve existing CNC programs using latest software and techniques - mills, lathes, mill/turns, and other equipment.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes and bed milling machines to produce precision parts with complex geometry.
- Program the CNC lathe and CNC milling machines including 5 Axis Mills using the engineering drawings and CAD model, G and M codes, tooling path study and software.
- Select, build and prepare tools required to cut various materials and program machines accordingly.
- Use hand tools proficiently including scrapers, chisels, files, and measuring instruments.
- Follow on shop orders, engineering prints and sketches.
- Work with engineers to improve machining cycle time, extend tool life, create overall process efficiency.
- Use mathematics, charts and tables and perform the dimensional inspection.
- Perform 5S, preventive maintenance (cleaning, oiling and sharpening tools), trouble shooting and resolve problems.
- Additional duties as assigned and be able to communicate and coordinate with others.
- Raises, lowers and moves material weighing up to 50 lbs.
