Job Description
The Retail Store & Market Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of Colvin Ranch Provisions, our retail store located at the Tenino Agriculture Innovation Park, and overseeing Colvin Ranch's participation in farmers’ markets. This role combines retail leadership, hospitality, operational excellence, and community engagement to create a welcoming and educational experience for customers.
The ideal candidate is passionate about locally produced food, agriculture, customer service, and team development. They will serve as a brand ambassador for Colvin Ranch, helping customers connect with the ranch's agricultural history, conservation values, and thoughtfully curated selection of products grown, raised, and made in Southwest Washington.
As the primary leader of both the store and market operations, you’ll be responsible for building and developing a high-performing team, maintaining operational excellence, and growing sales.
Key ResponsibilitiesRetail Store & Farmers’ Market Operations
- Oversee all day-to-day retail store operations.
- Coordinate and manage Colvin Ranch’s participation at the Proctor Farmers’ Market and the Puyallup Farmers’ Market, with planned expansion to the Seattle area.
- Maintain merchandising displays that tell the story of Colvin Ranch and showcase the quality and provenance of featured products.
- Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and point-of-sale systems.
- Utilize the Square platform for point-of-sale transactions, inventory management, customer communications, online orders, reporting, and business analytics.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and coordinate product ordering, delivery, and receiving.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, transportation, and rotation of perishable products.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Organize market schedules, booth setup, staffing, and operational logistics.
- Report on store and market performance and implement operational improvements.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and schedule store and farmers’ market team members.
- Help team members develop exceptional customer service skills aligned with a boutique specialty foods experience.
- Lead by example with a hands-on management style.
- Conduct regular coaching and performance management conversations.
Sales & Community Engagement
- Deliver an engaging customer experience that reflects the quality, heritage, and values of Colvin Ranch and drives sales growth.
- Organize and implement seasonal promotions, tastings, and special events.
- Maintain exceptional merchandising and presentation standards by creating displays, stocking products, and developing print signage.
- Create social media content to promote in-store events, seasonal products, and more.
- Analyze sales performance and labor metrics across retail and market operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and customer engagement.
- Source new locally-produced products.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of retail, specialty food, or farmers’ market experience.
- Knowledge of premium meat products and food handling practices.
- Strong leadership skills with prior experience managing employees.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and operational management abilities.
- Experience with inventory systems and retail POS platforms (Square preferred).
- Experience with social media and Canva graphic design platform.
- Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to lift and transport products, equipment, and market materials.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
