The In-Patient Phlebotomist role Performs venipuncture, capillary and arterial collections (arterial after 1 yr experience) on infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Assist in the reception area with clerical duties. Inventory and request phlebotomy as well as other needed supplies.

Qualifications:
Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
-
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Working Conditions-Physical Requirements & Atmosphere:

Demonstrates the ability to read, write and perform math functions.
- Has pleasant, outgoing personality.
- Demonstrates proper verbal communication skills and manual dexterity.

Physical requirements include bending, stooping, reaching, and carrying objects that may weigh up to 50 lbs.

Age Specific Competence Requirement: Specimens are obtained from infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.

Potential exposure to infectious diseases.
- Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and body fluids.
Responsibilities:

Assist in the reception area with all clerical duties
- Knowledge of test requirements

Assists the technical staff when asked
-
Work at least every other weekend
-
Capillary blood collection
-
Assists with Arterial line draw collections.

Arterial collection after 1 year phlebotomy experience with proper training/competency

Participation in all GPE initiatives from leadership down to Lab subcommittee GPE initiatives

Performs other related work as required or requested.
