The Drywall Finisher is responsible for preparing, finishing, and smoothing drywall surfaces to create a seamless, paint-ready finish on commercial and federal construction projects. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of drywall finishing techniques, and the ability to maintain quality standards while meeting project schedules.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Tape drywall joints and apply joint compound to seams, corners, and fasteners.
- Apply multiple coats of joint compound and sand surfaces to achieve a smooth, uniform finish.
- Repair drywall imperfections, cracks, holes, and damaged surfaces as needed.
- Match existing wall and ceiling textures when required.
- Operate and maintain drywall finishing tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and finish schedules.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Coordinate with drywall hangers, foremen, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial drywall finishing experience preferred.
- Experience on commercial and/or federal construction projects strongly preferred.
- Skilled in taping, mudding, sanding, skim coating, and texture application.
- Ability to produce high-quality Level 4 and Level 5 finishes.
- Familiarity with hand and power finishing tools.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as required for project assignments.
