Position: Lead Budtender
Pay: $18.00/hr Plus Tips
Schedule: Full Time Retail Schedule Including Nights and Weekends
Reports to: General Manager
We are seeking an experienced Budtender Shift Lead to support daily dispensary operations and provide leadership to the retail team when the General Manager is not present in the store.
This role serves as the acting supervisor on duty, ensuring smooth store operations, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional customer experience. The Shift Lead will assist with team leadership, inventory oversight, and operational coordination while continuing to support customers as a senior budtender.
The ideal candidate has strong retail leadership experience who is looking to grow into a larger Leadership or Dispensary Manager role within the cannabis industry. This person thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience while maintaining strict compliance with Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) regulations.

Act as manager on duty when the General Manager is not present

Oversee daily dispensary operations and support retail staff

Assist with opening and closing procedures

Ensure store policies and procedures are followed

Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant retail environment

Monitor sales floor activity and support the team during busy periods
-
Provide guidance and support to budtenders during shifts
-
Assist with training new employees
-
Help maintain team accountability and productivity

Communicate operational updates and issues to management

Ensure compliance with Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) regulations
-
Verify customer IDs and enforce legal purchasing requirements

Support METRC inventory tracking and compliance
-
Maintain accurate product handling, storage, and documentation procedures
-
Assist with preparation for inspections and audits

Deliver excellent customer service and product education

Assist customers with product selection and cannabis knowledge
-
Resolve customer concerns professionally

Maintain a welcoming and professional dispensary environment

Monitor product handling, storage, and security procedures
-
Assist with inventory counts, audits and reconciliation
-
Monitor product displays and restock inventory

Support product receiving and inventory organization
-
Report discrepancies or inventory concerns to management

Must be 21 years of age or older

High School Diploma or GED
-
Ability to obtain and maintain Michigan CRA Agent Registration

Minimum 1–2 years retail or customer service experience

Previous leadership or key-holder experience preferred

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Cannabis dispensary or budtender experience

Experience using METRC or cannabis POS systems

Previous shift lead, key holder, or supervisor experience

This role is primarily based at our Edwardsburg Dispensary. Occasionally, employees may travel between locations when operational needs or meetings require travel. Mileage reimbursement will be provided for travel between facilities.
