The Production Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Portage, WI, responsible for overseeing daily production and assembly activities on our Finishing shop floor. This role works alongside and manages the production team, assigns tasks, and monitors workflows to ensure that production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and with consistent quality.
The Production Supervisor coordinates with the Plant Manager, engineering, and finishing team for production, tracking jobs, and inventory usage. Day-to-day responsibilities working alongside finishing team and owning processes while guiding team members on priorities and best practice methods. The finishing department will be your primary responsibility but must also be willing to work cross functionally and step in across multiple departments as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
This position will lead and supervise people and assembly activities to maintain expected timelines and provide guidance in tool building process.
- Coordinates operations, and leverages skills and man-hours, material and workflow to assure highest quality tools and meet delivery expectations.
- Assigns work, provides direction, trains, and works with employees in finishing and assembly.
- Ensures the consistent use of safety devices and personal protective equipment (PPE), supervises departmental housekeeping and maintains constant alert for hazardous conditions and practices. Drives safety initiatives and improvements.
- Owns quality inspections for tool development and ensures proper operations taken for each job. Works closely with engineering and plant manager for clear expectations.
- Collaborates with internal groups on workflows, timeline estimation, and encouraging cost reduction, simplification and ergonomic enhancements.
- Promotes positive employee relations through daily, open and direct communications.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and positivity required.
- Strong supervisory skills, including team leadership, performance guidance, and fair, consistent personnel management.
- Experience working with production deadlines and basic knowledge of thermoforming tools preferred.
- Skills in production workflow coordination and tracking and planning material usage.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, management, and cross-functional departments.
- Background in production management, with the ability to monitor output, quality, and efficiency.
- Understanding of manufacturing or industrial environments, including safety regulations and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical or production documents; attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or an associate’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field is beneficial.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods, handle materials and equipment safely, lift moderate weights.
- Standing and walking for long periods at a time.
- Perform tasks such as reaching, feeling, handling, grasping, twisting and turning.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and or pulling 50 lbs., but must exercise good judgment on selecting the proper equipment to assist in heavy moves.
- Good communication skills with the ability to speak and hear others clearly.
