We are seeking a reliable and compassionate EMT to provide safe, professional non-emergency medical transportation for patients requiring recurring dialysis treatment and post-hospitalization discharge transport. This position does not involve 911 emergency response. The ideal candidate takes pride in delivering consistent, patient-centered care in a calm and supportive environment.
Schedule
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 4:00am-2:30pm. (shift times to be determined based on operational needs). This is a 32-36 hour-per-week position. No other shifts are being considered at this time.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients to and from scheduled dialysis appointments and hospital discharge locations
- Perform patient assessments prior to transport and monitor patient condition throughout
- Assist patients with mobility needs, including loading and unloading via stretcher or wheelchair as appropriate
- Document patient condition, vital signs, and any changes during transport accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate clearly with dialysis center staff, hospital discharge coordinators, and receiving facilities
- Maintain cleanliness, equipment readiness, and proper supply levels on the transport unit
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Follow all state EMS protocols and company policies for non-emergency transport
- Report any changes in patient condition or incidents to the supervisor promptly
Qualifications
Required:
- Current EMT-Basic (or higher) certification in the state of practice
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CPR/BLS certification (current)
- Ability to lift and assist patients safely (up to 150 lbs with a partner)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Prior experience in non-emergency medical transportation, dialysis transport, or home health settings
- Familiarity with bariatric transport equipment
- Experience working with elderly or medically complex patient populations
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and perform patient care activities for extended periods. Ability to push, pull, and operate stretchers and transport equipment is required.
