Flowers by John Kent in New Orleans is hiring an experienced floral designer to work on high-volume, high-end floral design across events, weddings, and funeral work.
This is a senior-level role for designers with at least 5 years of professional experience who want to work on elite projects, support major accounts, and be rewarded for performance.
We handle floral work for some of the biggest funeral homes and top event clients in the city. Candidates must be comfortable producing funeral designs at a high standard, including casket sprays, standing sprays, wreaths, and custom tributes, alongside formal event and wedding work.
Responsibilities
- Design and produce high-end floral work for daily operations, weddings, special events, and funeral services.
- Maintain quality and consistency under high-volume, time-sensitive conditions.
- Collaborate with a team of professional designers to deliver reliable, elite-level work.
- Assist with event and funeral setup, breakdown, and on-site execution as needed.
- Support the growth of the business through teamwork, client awareness, and operational involvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional floral design experience.
- Strong portfolio showing formal, high-end work.
- Demonstrated experience with funeral and sympathy design (casket sprays, standing sprays, wreaths, custom work).
- Wedding, event, or party planning and execution experience is a strong plus.
- Comfortable working with high-volume and high-end accounts.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong team mindset and willingness to contribute beyond basic design tasks.
- Availability for weekends, some evenings, and event- or funeral-based schedules.

Designers who prefer to work alone, resist direction, or do not want to contribute to the growth of the business will not be the right fit.
Compensation
This position offers competitive base pay plus performance-based earning opportunities.
High-performing team members have access to bonuses and commissions tied to event work, client involvement, and overall contribution to the business. Full details will be discussed during the interview process.
Interview Process
Qualified candidates will complete a hands-on floral design evaluation. Work will be assessed based on technical skill, design quality, and execution in a real-world, time-sensitive setting, including funeral and event-style pieces.
