Position Summary:
The Legal Assistants will be responsible for providing administrative and case support for employment-based immigration petitions and applications (including but not limited to various nonimmigrant visas, permanent residence, and labor certification/PERM). These positions require strong writing skills, independent research, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with clients to collect necessary information and documents.
- Review documentation collected and existing data in case management system; determine what additional information is required.
- Prepare and assemble forms, supporting documents, and correspondence for I-129s, I-140s, ETA-9141s, ETA-9089s.
- Maintain case tracking and follow-up systems to ensure deadlines are met.
- Draft cover letters and basic legal correspondence under attorney supervision.
- At times, may also be required to draft more extensive support letters for complex nonimmigrant petitions (e.g. O-1, E-2, L-1) and immigrant petitions (e.g., EB1, EB2 NIW).
- Conduct basic legal and procedural research related to cases and government filing requirements.
- Coordinate case filings with government agencies, including USCIS and the Department of Labor.
- Provide administrative support including calendaring, file management, and document formatting.
- Keep accurate and organized records of all case related filings.
- Review RFE notices; communicate with attorney and clients regarding documents required to respond.
- Stay ahead of filing deadlines, as well as petition expirations.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding case status and progress.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in employment-based immigration (NIV cases, EB1/2/3, and/or Labor Certification).
- Strong understanding of non-immigrant visa categories.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based immigration case management systems (e.g., eimmigration, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strictly maintain client confidentiality and data security in accordance with professional ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate.
