Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Correction Officer to maintain safety, security, and order within correctional facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising inmates, enforcing rules, and ensuring the safety of staff and inmates alike. This role requires strong observation skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations professionally. Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or related fields is highly valued.
Duties
- Monitor inmate activity through CCTV systems and conduct regular patrols of the facility to prevent disturbances or unauthorized activities.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations while maintaining a respectful and authoritative presence.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical incidents or security breaches, utilizing first aid and CPR skills as needed.
- Document incidents accurately through detailed report writing for legal and administrative purposes.
- Manage conflicts between inmates using conflict management techniques to de-escalate situations safely.
- Conduct searches for contraband and ensure the security of all areas within the facility.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during investigations or incident responses.
- Maintain communication with team members and supervisors to coordinate security efforts effectively.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of CCTV operations and surveillance techniques.
- Certification in first aid and CPR to respond effectively during medical emergencies.
- Background in law enforcement, military service, or security is preferred for understanding legal procedures and maintaining discipline.
- Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to handle tense situations calmly and professionally.
- Proficient report writing skills for documenting incidents accurately and comprehensively.
- Ability to enforce rules firmly while demonstrating fairness and respect towards inmates.
- Good physical condition with the ability to stand for extended periods, perform searches, and respond quickly when necessary. Pay: $45,806.00 - $55,521.00 per hour
