Sunrise of Philadelphia is hiring Activity Instructors to lead engaging, hands-on programming for elementary and middle school students in our Before School and After School programs.

About Sunrise of Philadelphia
Sunrise of Philadelphia provides high-quality Out-of-School Time (OST) programming that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of children throughout South, Southwest, and West Philadelphia. Through a trauma-informed approach, we create safe, engaging environments where youth can build confidence, develop new skills, and have fun while learning.

Position Schedule
This is a seasonal, part-time position during the school year.
Before School Program
- Monday–Friday
- Approximately 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
- Hours are subject to change based on program needs.
After School Program
- Monday–Friday
- Approximately 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Start times may vary depending on each school's dismissal schedule, with some sites beginning earlier.
Candidates may be hired for Before School, After School, or both programs, depending on availability and program needs.
What You'll Do
As an Activity Instructor, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where students can learn, build friendships, and explore new interests.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and supervise groups of students during program hours
- Facilitate engaging academic enrichment, arts, STEM, recreation, and social-emotional learning activities
- Build positive relationships with students while serving as a mentor and role model
- Encourage teamwork, inclusion, and positive behavior
- Maintain a safe environment through active supervision
- Support homework assistance and structured enrichment activities
- Work collaboratively with Site Directors and fellow staff to ensure high-quality programming
- Maintain accurate attendance and assist with daily program operations

Qualifications
Required
- At least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience working with children or youth in schools, camps, recreation, childcare, tutoring, mentoring, or similar settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to obtain required background clearances
Preferred
- College coursework or degree in Education, Child Development, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field
- Experience leading enrichment activities, sports, arts, STEM, or youth programming
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are encouraged to apply
