Medical Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist (ENT)

Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists of Northern Virginia is seeking an experienced, compassionate Certified Medical Assistant who is also comfortable supporting front office operations. This hybrid role combines clinical Medical Assistant responsibilities with front desk reception duties to help provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, patient-centered ENT practice.
ResponsibilitiesClinical Medical Assistant Duties
- Prepare patients for appointments by obtaining vital signs, updating medical histories, and documenting information in the EMR.
- Assist physicians during examinations and in-office procedures.
- Administer medications, perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimens, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Educate patients on treatments, medications, and post-visit instructions.
- Clean and stock exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and follow infection control protocols.
Front Desk & Administrative Duties
- Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and provide an outstanding patient experience.
- Register patients, verify demographics and insurance information, collect required forms, copays, and payments.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments while optimizing provider schedules.
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments.
- Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and route messages appropriately.
- Assist with medical records requests while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Support insurance verification, billing inquiries, payment posting, and general office operations.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of medical office or outpatient clinical experience.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding, anatomy, and physiology.
- Strong clinical skills, communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent customer service with a commitment to patient confidentiality.
- ENT or specialty practice experience preferred.
- Spanish-speaking candidates are encouraged to apply.
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged sitting and computer use.
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the clinic.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
