American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Work in the Emergency Department of a regional referral and tertiary care center serving all patient populations
-
101-bed unit handling approximately 250 visits per day
-
Patient ratios of 1:3-5
-
Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
-
26-week contract length with option for 36 hours per week
-
Floating required between the Emergency Observation Unit and Emergency Behavioral Health based on need
-
Weekend requirement of a minimum of 4 weekend days per 6-week schedule, up to every other weekend

Uses Pyxis and Epic systems, with SBAR communication and daily shift huddles
-
No blocked scheduling available
-
Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
-
Minimum 2 years of relevant ER experience required

Previous charge nurse experience required
-
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, MOAB, NIHSS, PALS

TNCC certification preferred
-
Epic charting system experience required
-
Skills required include IV starts, triage, and telemetry

Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Experience with psychiatric patients, respiratory care, IV therapy, and cardiac monitoring preferred
-
Provide emergency care across a broad patient population including psychiatric, respiratory, cardiac, and neurological cases in a STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
-
Participate in triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation

Unit orientation is 24 hours with weekly orientation schedule

Navy/White scrubs required

First-time travelers will be considered for this position

Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate

Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with disclosure of hospital name and employment dates required

Current travel per diem clinicians at this facility must choose between per diem or travel status
-
Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
-
Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with all RTO requiring pre-approval and no RTO allowed during the first week

Must work 2 of 3 major holidays

No additional RTO requests allowed after signing
