Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Thrift Store Manager to lead our retail operation with enthusiasm and a passion for community service. Duties
- Lead and supervise all store operations, including sales, inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.
- Recruit, interview, train, and develop staff to ensure high performance and excellent customer interactions.
- Manage employee orientation programs and ongoing training initiatives to promote team growth.
- Oversee cash handling, POS system operation, and daily bookkeeping tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Control inventory levels through purchasing, stock replenishment, pricing strategies, and inventory audits.
- Implement effective merchandising techniques to maximize sales and enhance store presentation.
- Develop and manage budgets, sales targets, and operational plans to meet or exceed store goals.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, store policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a welcoming environment by providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly.
- Utilize strong management skills to supervise shift schedules, monitor sales performance, and motivate staff for success.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in retail or thrift store environments with supervisory responsibilities.
- Demonstrated skills in negotiation, employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, and training & development.
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable for effective communication with diverse customers and staff.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems, inventory control procedures, merchandising techniques, and retail math.
- Experience with cash handling, payroll processing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and operational management.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams confidently and professionally.
- Supervising experience within retail sales teams is essential; familiarity with retail industry sales strategies is preferred.
- Basic math proficiency for daily financial transactions; phone etiquette and customer service skills are crucial.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends or evenings as needed; previous assistant manager experience is advantageous.
