Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Public Accountant / Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our growing CPA firm. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping and accounting experience, be proficient in QuickBooks Online and Desktop, and be comfortable managing multiple client accounts in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with a variety of small and mid-sized businesses across multiple industries while developing expertise in accounting, financial reporting, and tax support.
Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients.
- Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate general ledgers.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Process payroll and payroll tax filings.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Review client books for accuracy and make adjusting journal entries.
- Support tax preparation by organizing financial records and workpapers.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding bookkeeping and accounting matters.
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and accounting best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or public accounting experience.
- Experience working in a CPA firm is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with payroll, sales tax, and account reconciliations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA candidate or CPA license is a plus.
- Experience with CCH, Drake, Lacerte, UltraTax, or other tax software.
- Experience with construction, restaurants, retail, or multi-entity accounting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Bill.com, ADP, Gusto, Expensify, or similar accounting applications.
