Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and detail-oriented Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team in a fast-paced urgent care setting. This position plays a critical role in providing timely medical support, delivering exceptional patient care, and ensuring a smooth clinical workflow during urgent cases. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Triage & Assessment
- Perform initial assessments on incoming urgent care patients.
- Prioritize cases based on severity and assist with stabilization.
Technical Support
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, radiographs, in-house lab testing, and wound care.
- Administer medications by any route, vaccines, and fluid therapy as directed.
Client Communication
- Clearly explain procedures, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Provide compassionate support to clients in urgent/emergent situations.
Emergency Protocols
- Participate in crash cart preparation and emergency response.
- Monitor anesthetic and post-op recovery in critical cases.
Record Keeping & Inventory
- Accurately document patient records and treatment logs in real-time.
- Help maintain medical inventory and equipment cleanliness/sterilization.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT) or eligible to become certified.
- Experience in critical care or specialty settings.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMRs) and diagnostic equipment.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in emergency or urgent care.
Skills:
- Strong multitasking and time management.
- Calm under pressure with quick decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Anesthesia experience strongly preferred
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Must be available for evenings, weekends, as this is an urgent care position.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and handling animals of all sizes.
