Job Title: AutoCAD Designer – Modular Homes
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced AutoCAD Designer to join our modular homes team. The AutoCAD Designer will be responsible for creating accurate construction drawings, floor plans, elevations, and production documents used in the manufacturing of modular homes. The ideal candidate has strong drafting skills, knowledge of residential construction, and the ability to collaborate with engineering, production, sales, and project management teams to ensure high-quality, code-compliant designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings for modular home floor plans, elevations, and construction details.
- Develop production-ready drawings that meet company standards, customer specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Modify existing plans based on customer selections, engineering changes, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, estimating, sales, and production departments to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
- Prepare permit drawings and documentation as required.
- Review architectural and structural plans for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain organized project files and drawing revisions.
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal building regulations.
- Assist with design improvements to increase manufacturing efficiency and reduce production costs.
- Support production teams by answering technical questions and resolving design-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or certification in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of AutoCAD drafting experience (residential or modular construction preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit or other CAD software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, building materials, and building codes.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Experience in modular, manufactured, or prefabricated housing is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a computer workstation.
- Ability to occasionally visit manufacturing facilities and construction sites.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when handling plans, samples, or project materials.
