Via Appia Ristorante is looking for experienced Hosts to join our team at our Wilbraham, MA location.
As a Host, you will:
Welcome guests upon their arrival and give a detailed and accurate description of the restaurant
- Assess guests’ needs and preferences and recommend suitable options - food, beverage, movie - with experienced acuity in all areas, such as diet, preferences, taxes and precautions
- Take orders and prepare food - choose ingredients, cooking methods, equipment etc.
- Prepare food according to orders - wash dishes, clean equipment, stock ingredients, put things on shelves etc.
- Present guests with menu and make informed decisions - make dietary requests, know what is best for each guest to serve them
- Follow all health and safety standards - keep a clean kitchen at all times
- Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards - keep work area clean, sanitized, organized etc.
- Ensure that all food and beverages are of high quality - inform guests about quality of service and quality of food/beverages
- Provide excellent customer service - act in a professional manner
- Other duties as assigned (e.g. bussing tables, greeting guests)
Requirements:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tables being served at once with multiple people waiting at each table)
- Previous experience as a host/wait staff/cook/etc. (longer experience preferred)
- Be able to follow instructions accurately
- Communicate effectively in English (both verbally and written)
- Be able to lift up to 25lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally (useful for moving items like plates)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
