Job Description:
The Medical Assistant will work closely with our medical providers to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations in a fast-paced gastroenterology practice. This individual will be responsible for assisting with patient care, administrative tasks, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take patient histories and record vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, weight).
- Prepare patients for exams, procedures, and assist with any necessary medical tests.
- Assist physicians during exams and procedures, maintaining sterile and clean environments.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician.
- Perform EKGs, lab tests, and other diagnostic procedures as needed.
- Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits.
- Update and maintain patient records in our electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Provide patient education and instructions regarding treatment plans and medical procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Manage patient flow in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure the office and exam rooms are properly stocked, sanitized, and maintained.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting, preferably in a gastroenterology practice.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient care.
- CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment).

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
