POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide professional orthopaedic occupational therapy care for clinic patients. Perform clinical tasks and patient care to include; evaluations, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, appropriate modalities, splint fabrication, and applicable documentation related to these services. Therapist must be able to evaluate, formulate a plan of care, establish goals, and perform any treatment procedures required to meet treatment goals.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Minimum of two years of experience in a physician office or orthopaedic setting (new graduates must demonstrate superior ability to perform through a clinical affiliation or by other comparable means)
2. Ability to manage multiple patients and administer appropriate modalities
3. Extensive knowledge in exercise physiology, biomechanics, and exercise prescription
4. Working knowledge of billing issues, CPT codes, L codes, and basic knowledge of Insurance related issues
5. Working knowledge of simple and complex splinting for the hand, wrist, and elbow
6. Comfortable effectively using MS Office programs including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
7. Ability to work with Practice Management software
8. Good communication skills and the ability to perform patient education duties
9. Neat and professional appearance
JOB DUTIES:
1. Evaluate and treat patients and complete appropriate documentation in a timely fashion
2. Supervise technicians
3. Develop protocols and patient education materials

5. Communicate appropriately with physicians and their staff on patient care issues
6. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations
7. Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
8. Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
9. Maintain Occupational/Physical Therapist licensure in the state of Tennessee
10. Maintain Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credentials
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral level degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university is required
2. Extensive training in orthopaedic care preferred
3. Extensive background in splinting fabrication is preferred
4. Must be licensed in the state of Tennessee
5. Must have hand therapy certification
