Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Safely administer prescribed medications following all state healthcare regulations and HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy.
- Assist residents and patients with medication management tasks such as tube feeding, catheter care, and medication reminders.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to assess health status regularly.
- Document medication administration and patient responses accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Provide compassionate care tailored to individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or memory care needs, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Support patients during activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, mobility assistance, and manual handling tasks including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure compliance with all state Board of Nursing standards and medical documentation requirements.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations by applying first aid or basic life support (BLS) techniques such as CPR when needed.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to deliver holistic care in settings like assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments.
- Uphold confidentiality by adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive medical information.
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is highly valued. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology fundamentals, and the use of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Additional preferred qualifications include:
- Assisted living experience or senior care background
- Nursing home or acute care experience
- Familiarity with hospice or dementia/memory care settings
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards
- Certification in CPR and First Aid from recognized organizations
- Experience handling tube feeding procedures and catheter care
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining patient comfort
