Production MIG Welder – Automotive Shipping Racks
Job Summary
We are seeking reliable and motivated Production MIG Welders to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will weld and assemble automotive shipping racks and related steel structures according to engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules. This position requires working in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on steel components used in automotive shipping racks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and welding specifications.
- Assemble and tack-weld parts prior to final welding.
- Inspect welds for quality, strength, and dimensional accuracy.
- Operate welding equipment, grinders, saws, and other fabrication tools safely.
- Maintain production targets while ensuring workmanship meets company standards.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Assist with material handling, rack assembly, and shop housekeeping as required.
- Report quality issues, equipment problems, or safety concerns to supervisors.
Qualifications
- Previous MIG welding experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read tape measures, drawings, and welding symbols.
- Experience welding mild steel and structural components.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg), and performing repetitive tasks.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in automotive, metal fabrication, or shipping rack manufacturing.
- CWB welding certification (asset but not required).
- Forklift or overhead crane experience (asset).
- Knowledge of quality inspection procedures.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing and welding shop environment.
- Exposure to welding fumes, noise, sparks, and varying temperatures.
- Overtime and shift work may be required to meet production demands.
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
