Pay Grade: MThe Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia's four health agencies serving the state's growing population of over 10 million people. DCH serves as the lead agency for Medicaid, oversees the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) and Healthcare Facility Regulation, impacting one in four Georgians. The Department of Community Health is seeking a qualified Program Operations Specialist for the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) within the State Office of Rural Health. Under direct supervision, will assist with the coordination of planning grant strategy and policy creation for the addition of up to 86 rural hospital grants for initiatives to address gaps in service delivery and preparation for the AHEAD GREAT Health-Budget Narrative transition for each hospital. The RHTP Program Operations Specialist will partner directly with assigned hospitals to ensure successful grant implementation and provide technical assistance directly to hospitals as needed. The RHTP Program Operations Specialist has a large scope of responsibility within the agency. The position is based in Cordele, GA (Crisp County), a rural community approximately 60 miles south of Macon on I-75. The State Office of Rural Health (SORH) is dedicated to improving access to health care in rural and underserved areas and reducing health status disparities. This is a hybrid position that requires in-office and remote work with the approval of the supervisor. The days and frequency in the office can change at any time during employment, based on the business needs of the organization.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist with grant program/project development, management, and administration of a variety of state and federal grantsAssist with the development of grant-related budgets and provide budget monitoring to ensure proper funding allocationsProvide comprehensive and detailed technical assistance to grantees, independently and with minimum supervisionBuild and maintain all grant files as required by the State Office of Rural HealthTravel in and out of state to represent the State Office of Rural Health at required business meetings or conferences as neededResponsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintain working knowledge of current federal and state regulations, trends, and developments within assigned program areaIdentify and assist with the development of new funding opportunitiesConduct research to promote successful grant development and maximum awardsEvaluate eligibility of potential grantees for participation in grant programsCommunicate with internal and external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectationsDevelop and deliver program-related presentations to local, state, and federal stakeholders as needed or requestedEstablish and maintain a positive working relationship with area business community, internal and external agency customers, and other related contactsMonitor effectiveness of business operations, assesses quality of service and makes recommendations to improve operationsReceive additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areasGather, compile, and analyze dataPrepare reports of findings and analysis. May make recommendations to management for operational changes
