Position Overview:
The Assistant Miller provides hands-on support for milling operations, including equipment adjustments, process monitoring, sanitation, warehousing, and quality control. Maintains accurate records, assists with troubleshooting, and gains experience to advance into higher mill roles.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Operate milling equipment to ensure specification is met
- Monitoring grain input for moisture and ash specifications
- Monitor milling system and adjust to maintain efficiency
- Complete sanitation activities per the sanitation schedule
- Receive and sample grain
- Support the maintenance of milling equipment and other equipment within the mill
- Perform minor repairs
- Promote human safety, food safety, and milling efficiency
- Ensuring proper storage of finished flour and grain, FIFO system
- Support training of existing and newly hired employees
- Evaluating performance of the workplace and providing feedback
- Helping to resolve issues and disputes
- Effectively communicate
- Assist as need within the operations in other areas
- Participate in food safety and SQF system by completing pre-operational inspection, production work orders, and magnet logs as well as support of the PM and MCS programs
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years+ manufacturing experience required
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well individually and as a member of a team
- Forklift experience preferred but not required
- Ability to perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, and multiplication
- Mechanical aptitude
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Availability to work in different shifts, including weekends
- Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of written or spoken word and distinguish objects or equipment visually

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
