Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced, results-driven, analytical General Manager to oversee our complete wholesale produce distribution operations. In this role, you will lead day-to-day warehouse logistics, cold-chain management, grower procurement, and sales strategies. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of perishable commodities, food safety regulations, and agricultural market volatility. You will drive operational efficiency, minimize shrinkage, and expand our market with retail, food service, and institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Financial Management
- Oversee Daily Operations: Lead warehousing, logistics, purchasing, and sales teams.
- Solve Complex Problems: Analyze waste, pricing fluctuations, and transport delays to implement instant, logical fixes.
- Drive profitability and revenue growth by building procurement and customer relationships, improved processes and streamlined logistics.
- Analyze market trends and seasonal volume fluctuations to optimize pricing strategies.
- Minimize cold-chain shrinkage and product loss through strict inventory controls.
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Manage relationships with growers, shippers, brokers, and logistics providers.
- Coordinate inbound freight to balance inventory turnover with demand.
Warehouse Operations & Cold Chain Logistics
- Direct all warehouse functions, including receiving, grading, slotting, ripening cycles, and order picking.
- Enforce cold-chain integrity across multi-temperature storage zones and outbound delivery fleets.
- Optimize routing schedules to guarantee on-time delivery of peak-quality perishable goods.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain full compliance with FDA, USDA, PACA (Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act), and FSMA standards.
- Assist with third-party audits such as SQF, PrimusGFS, or GLOBALG.A.P.
- Ensure sanitization protocols are strictly followed across all facilities and equipment.
Sales & Team Development
- Support the B2B sales team in securing and retaining large retail and foodservice accounts.
- Train and mentor department heads across sales, procurement, and warehouse operations.
- Coordinate outbound freight to minimize delivered costs.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of senior management experience specifically within fresh produce wholesale, distribution, or agricultural logistics.
- Regulation Expertise: Deep, working knowledge of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA) and global food safety initiatives (GFSI).
- Financial Acumen: Documented success navigating highly volatile commodity pricing.
- Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in data analysis, ERP software, and inventory tracking metrics.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of USDA grades, cold-chain maintenance, and perishable logistics.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established network of domestic and international produce growers and brokers.
- Bilingual capabilities (English and Spanish) to effectively communicate across all workforce levels.
