American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a hospital position requiring an active Ohio or compact RN license and at least 1 year of acute care experience.

Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
-
Rotating 3x12-hour shifts covering day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:30-7:30) schedules
-
Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends
-
Uses EPIC EMR for charting
-
Float to lower acuity units as needed
-
Active Ohio RN license or compact license required, in hand at time of consideration
-
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience with strong acute care background preferred

Current BLS certification required
-
IV certification required
-
EPIC EMR experience preferred
-
Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills required
-
Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
-
Cardiac monitoring experience including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
-
Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
-
Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
-
IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and PICC line management experience
-
Experience with neurological/psychiatric patients and substance withdrawal cases
-
Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
-
Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Start and manage IVs, administer medications safely, and monitor patient vital signs and responses
-
Educate patients on treatments and self-care

Collaborate with the care team on patient care plans
-
Follow hospital policies and maintain patient safety standards
-
Care for Med/Surg and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown patient populations

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate

Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler

Requested time off must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less

Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
