The Clubhouse Network (TCN), headquartered in Nubian Square, Roxbury, is a global community of more than 152 Clubhouse locations, in over 20 countries. Founded in 1993, in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab, TCN supports community-based Clubhouses around the world by providing technical assistance and support to their start-up, professional development, new technology innovations, evaluation and assessment, partnership opportunities and access to an online community for youth, mentors and staff.
The Clubhouse Network operates the Flagship Clubhouse, housed at its headquarters location, to provide a creative, out-of-school learning environment where teens work with adult mentors to explore their ideas and interests, develop skills and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. The Flagship Clubhouse is a free drop-in program that engages youth in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) through experiential learning and design thinking framework. Flagship Clubhouse serves as a training site for TCN’s global community as well as a Mentor orientation and volunteer engagement location.
Position Summary:
The Mentor Program Manager for The Clubhouse Network is responsible for providing organizational leadership in developing TCN training to support mentor participation within TCN and for managing the implementation of the IMPACTS (Increasing Mentor Participation and Commitment to Success) grant at the Flagship location. Within participating IMPACTS sites, this includes fostering a community of practice, managing grant deliverables and implementing evaluation and assessment tools and techniques. They will manage the project budget, deliverables, and reporting requirements to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention. The Mentoring Program Manager will serve as Geographical Liaison to all IMPACTS grantee sites.
They will serve as The Clubhouse Network’s primary trainer and project leader on issues of mentor effectiveness while participating in Geo meetings, external partner, and funding discussions to establish TCN as a leader in the field of STEAM mentoring. They will foster collaboration amongst Clubhouses to facilitate the sharing of best practices in mentoring and career readiness, mentor engagement, and a sustained commitment to TCN design principles.
Essential Functions (The following list is subject to change at any time without advance notice. Management may assign new duties, reassign existing duties or eliminate a role.) Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee all programmatic elements of the Department of Justice IMPACTS grant.
- Serve as the lead project manager and grant writer for OJJDP Mentoring RFP with a thoughtful grant submission highlighting TCN’s national technical assistance and mentoring programming.
- Advise IMPACTS sites on staffing, program content, and delivery mechanisms to ensure they design and deliver a program that addresses program goals and meets the needs of their community.
- Create templates and resources that support IMPACTS subgrantees in implementing the program model and integrating college and career readiness principles.
- Facilitate regular meetings and check-ins to ensure subgrantees are effectively working towards grant objectives.
- Create and maintain reporting systems for IMPACTS subgrantees to report successes, challenges and performance data on a regular basis.
- Implement new reporting models from the Department of Justice and train subgrantees on evolving requirements.
- Establish and nurture the relationship with Department of Justice program officers.
- Work collaboratively with the Development Director to produce annual grant reports in timely basis
- Manage IMPACTS program timetable and budget to ensure compliance with grant terms.
- Serve as Geographical Liaison to all IMPACTS sites, including site visits, assessments, coaching and communication of TCN priority messaging.
● Create instructional resources to support TCN’s implementation of mentoring in all Clubhouses.
- Develop training programs, materials and content (on-line and in-person) for enhancing mentor effectiveness, sharing of best practices, nurturing relationships within the Network and uplifting TCN’s core model and principles.
- Deliver data informed and relevant Mentoring best practices training for program site leaders during TCN events like Immersion Week, Annual Conference and Teen Summits.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned by TCN Leadership.
- Support the Flagship Clubhouse site through occasional site coverage, relationship building with youth, and modeling of best practices in mentoring and career readiness.
- Support the application submission process for mentor-related grant proposals.
- Create the program design for future iterations of the IMPACTS grant based on Network needs and funder target populations.
- Serve as the Mentoring best practices trainer for the Flagship Clubhouse on 8-10 times per year.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:
● Three or more years of grant program management.
● Demonstrated ability to recruit and engage volunteers. Ability to engage employers, affinity groups and individuals in long term volunteer opportunities.
● Experience developing and delivering training materials and workshops.
● Experience with youth development programs, mentor program development and/or implementation.
● Experience with program evaluation and assessment.
● Evidence of commitment to The Clubhouse Network’s mission, including youth leadership, youth development, social justice action, racial equity and inclusion.
● Experience supporting youth transitions from Clubhouse to careers/college.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and hear regularly. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time. The employee needs to move inside and outside of the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, and to meet with community partners at different sites. The position requires occasional lifting of office products and supplies up to 50 lbs. This position involves traveling to various site locations within our global network.
