Responsibilities
- Decorate cakes and pastries using a variety of techniques, including piping, fondant work, airbrushing, and hand-painting to create visually appealing designs.
- Prepare and assemble cakes according to customer specifications and company standards, ensuring consistency in size, shape, and decoration.
- Handle food preparation tasks such as mixing, baking, and assembling components while maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards.
- Package finished products carefully for delivery or display, ensuring they remain pristine during transport.
- Collaborate with customers or team members to understand design requirements and provide expert advice on cake styles and flavors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to food handling regulations and safety protocols at all times.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring supplies of decorating tools, ingredients, and packaging materials.
Experience
- Proven experience in cake decorating or pastry arts within a bakery, catering service, or restaurant setting.
- Strong skills in food production, food handling, and culinary techniques related to baking and pastry arts.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Familiarity with various decorating tools such as piping bags, fondant rollers, sculpting tools, and edible paints.
- Previous experience working in the food industry with an emphasis on customer service is highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail during busy periods.
- Basic kitchen skills including knife handling, baking techniques, and food preparation are essential for success in this role.
