Lifetime Living, Inc. is hiring for a qualified, responsible, dependable, and reliable individual to work as Direct Care / Support Professional / Staff to male adults with IDD in a group home environment in the 78218 area of San Antonio. Experience in caregiving, mental/behavioral health and/or with individuals with intellectual, developmental disabilities (IDD) is preferred.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide individualized care to IDD individuals in the home;
- Assist on a daily basis with personal care and hygiene;
- Assist daily with home routines and chores;
- Help plan and prepare all meals
- Provide companionship and establish trusting relationships with individuals;
- Provide transportation to Day Activity locations and to local community outings on a routine basis;
- Administer medications as delegated by nurse or physician;
- Report incidents and/or medical issues to Case Management & Nursing staff;
- Collaborate with management and coworkers to ensure the residents receive quality care and continuity of care;
- Keep records of daily activity, behavior, and incidents;
- Ensure home is safe, clean, and well organized
Schedule is as follows (40 hours per week): Please review thoroughly.
- 40 hour work week shift: Saturday 8pm-10pm (2 hours worked); Sunday 6am till 10pm (16 hours worked); Monday 6am-8am (2 hours worked) & Monday 4pm-10pm (6 hours worked); Tuesday 6am-8am (2 hours worked) & Tuesday 4pm-10pm (6 hours worked); Wednesday 6am-8am (2 hours worked)& 4pm-8pm (4 hours worked)
- DSP Staff is allowed to sleep overnight (8 hours) from 10 pm - 6 am daily on Wed, TH, Friday in furnished master bedroom & bathroom in group home is reserved for the DSP staff. This time is not compensated.
- DSP Staff must stay with the clients throughout the whole week or weekend shift; clients cannot be left unattended or unsupervised during the shift.
- Thursdays - Friday (days OFF/ not scheduled). This time is not compensated.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with elderly, disabled, and/or mentally challenged individuals is a plus
- Friendly, professional demeanor
- Strong emotional intelligence, patience, problem solving and listening skills
- Must be 18 years or older with Valid Driver’s License and
- HS Diploma/GED/Degree or experience in lieu of education may be considered.
- Criminal Background check required. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to provide
- Required I-9 documentation upon hire

Position: Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. · Primarily home and community-based, with occasional visits to community outings and other Lifetime Living office or Centers. · Direct care with individuals with IDD and/or behavioral health crisis management and use of deescalation techniques as needed · Fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring flexibility to occasionally work outside normal scheduled hours. · Collaborative environment working closely with team members, case managers and nursing teams. · Mostly indoor environment, depending on function needs. · Can be fast paced, with frequent interruptions.
