Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (K-12 required)
- Knowledge and proficiency in educating students with multiple disabilities, especially visual impairments
- Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and classroom management
- Prior experience with adaptive technology, braille, and accessible formats preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with mobility equipment or therapy pool activities
- Commitment to respectful, team-based communication and inclusive practices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs and Re-evaluation Reports based on student needs
- Adapt materials, curriculum, and environments to ensure accessibility through braille, tactile graphics, and technology
- Conduct assessments and progress monitoring, adjusting strategies as needed
- Lead classroom aides and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Foster social, emotional, and self-advocacy skills; maintain a positive, supportive classroom culture
- Attend ongoing professional training, driving best practices in vision and special education
