Position Overview
This position is an ideal entry point for an ambitious candidate looking to learn and grow in the CNC machining trade. You will work alongside experienced machinists and engineers, support daily production, set up basic operations, run CNC mills/lathes, and maintain strict quality standards. We provide hands-on training for the right individual who brings a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a mechanical mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up CNC machines such as lathes and milling centers according to technical specifications and blueprints
- Operate CNC machining tools safely and efficiently to produce precision parts
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate manufacturing processes
- Use measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measurement tools
- Learn to program CNC machines using G-code and M-code under supervision, including basic CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming
- Conduct routine machine maintenance, tooling changes, and machine setup adjustments to optimize performance
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and improve workflow efficiency
- Perform quality inspections utilizing GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure parts meet specifications
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, measurements, and inspection reports
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; vocational/technical training in machining or precision manufacturing is a strong plus.
- Basic understanding of blue print reading, shop math, and geometric tolerances (GD&T basics are a bonus).
- Ability to properly use basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a dependable attendance record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods during a shift.
- High commitment to workplace safety and wearing required PPE.
