Overall Objective of Job:
To cost effectively maintain, in proper working condition, all equipment and facilities of the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
- Establish and maintain a routine for testing and examining mechanical and electrical equipment (including motor vehicles and controls), and make repairs as necessary;
- Perform daily maintenance checks and make repairs as necessary of the plant, main pump station and booster station;
- Assist plant operators to clean tanks, change chemical lines and to keep pumps and equipment in working condition;
- Run compost operators and dewatering operators as necessary;
- Maintain appearance of the Waste Water Treatment Plant, both interior and exterior, including snow removal;
- Operate heavy machinery, including but not limited to: loader, skidsteer, and street sweeper;
- Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily an outdoors environment with fluctuations between hot and cold, and exposure to the elements;
- Occasionally an inside laboratory/factory environment with controlled temperature, and with occasional strong odors and exposure to chemicals;
- Possible weekend work schedule.
Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time;
- Stretching, bending or reaching required;
- Lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds;
- Frequent climbing of ladders may be required;
- Occasional work in confined spaces.
A.
§ High school diploma or the equivalent required;
§ Confined space training certification, air-pack training, and CPR/AED training;
§ Radiation training preferred but not required;
§ Obtain HVAC Certification within three (3) years or revert back to Assistant Utility position;
§ Welding Certification; experience preferred;
§ PLC Training;
§ Electrical and PLC experience to understand ladder logic and wiring schematics to troubleshoot complex electrical systems;
§ Attend trainings as required;
§ Valid PA Class B vehicle operator’s license with air-brake and tanker endorsements.
B.
- Previous experience with mechanical and electrical equipment and repairs preferred but not required;
- Must have worked as an Assistant Utility Person for one (1) year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
§ Basic knowledge of arithmetic;
§ Basic knowledge of computers;
§ Good verbal and written skills;
§ Good interpersonal skills;
§ Ability to understand and follow instructions;
§ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
§ Self-motivated;
§ Basic knowledge of electrical test equipment and electrical safety.
Pay: From $59,916.00 per year
