Job Summary:
The Early Childhood Development Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged six weeks to four yrs. old. This role involves planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth. The teacher will work closely with parents, guardians, and other staff members to ensure the holistic development of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that cater to the developmental needs of children aged six weeks to four yrs. old.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including storytelling, games, and hands-on activities, to engage children.
Monitor and assess each child’s progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
Child Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom environment.
- Follow all safety and health guidelines, including proper hygiene practices.
Individualized Care:
- Provide personalized attention to each child, understanding and responding to their unique needs.
- Support children in developing self-help skills, such as feeding, dressing, and toilet training.
- Foster a nurturing and supportive atmosphere that encourages children’s emotional and social development.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child’s progress, daily activities, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of each child’s development, attendance, and any incidents or concerns.
- Prepare progress reports and developmental assessments as required.
- Ensure confidentiality of all child and family information.
Professional Conduct:
- Adhere to the school’s policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
- Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude towards children, parents, and colleagues.
- Continuously seek to improve teaching skills and stay updated with the latest early childhood education practices.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry children up to 50 pounds.
- Stamina to actively engage with children throughout the day.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move around the classroom as needed.
