THE POSITION
The Food Service Worker 1 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) at the Southeastern Veterans' Center (SEVC) plays a key part in supporting daily meal service for residents. This position gives you the chance to build valuable skills in food preparation, service, and teamwork. You will join a dependable group that values quality and care in every task. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position performs routine work in preparing meals and maintaining sanitation in food preparation and serving areas. The role supports daily dining operations through careful service, clean-up, and record keeping. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and plate food items using proper portions and assist with beverages and bagged items
- Cart Transport: Load, move, and unload food carts for snacks, nourishments, and beverages
- Tray Assembly: Set up plates, read special diet codes, assemble trays, and check trays for accuracy
- Dining Support: Deliver trays, refill basic food items, and set up serving lines in dining areas
- Sanitation Tasks: Clean dishes, dining rooms, equipment, floors, walls, and food preparation areas
- Record Keeping: Document inventory use, temperatures, meal counts, and assist with documentation

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 80 hours biweekly
- Work hours are 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and every other weekend.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

- Previous food service worker experience
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
