American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift CICU position in Asheville, NC, requiring ICU background and proficiency with vents, hemodynamics, and vasoactive medications.

16-bed Cardiac ICU (CICU) unit located in a large, 815-bed regional referral hospital in Asheville, NC
-
Patient ratios are typically 2:1 or 1:1, occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity
-
Equipment used includes ventilators, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, Impella, and hypothermia devices
-
Documentation system is Cerner
-
Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Alternating weekend requirements

Travelers are required to float to all areas of the hospital

Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
-
RN-only unit — no HUC or PCT support on the floor

Active NC or compact RN license required
-
BLS (AHA or ARC accepted) required; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment

NIH Stroke Scale certification required for ICU RNs
-
CCRN is recommended but not required
-
Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required
-
Experience with titration of vasopressors, vesicant medications, sedation, and paralytics required
-
Experience with mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy management required
-
Telemetry interpretation skills required
-
Understanding of hemodynamics, PA catheter setup, and interpretation required
-
Experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT is strongly preferred
-
Familiarity with transvenous pacing, cardioversion, TEE, and chest tube management preferred

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Scrub color requirement: all navy or navy and white; no pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
