Job Summary

You will also have scheduled paid evenings on call to pick up first call decedents.
Responsibilities
- Support licensed funeral directors in coordinating funeral services, including planning and execution of memorial events.
- Assist with embalming procedures, including cosmetic application for deceased persons, ensuring respectful and dignified preparation.
- Handle heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene standards in the mortuary environment.
- Operate company vehicles for transportation of remains, equipment, or family members as needed.
- Provide bereavement support and compassionate client communication to help families navigate their arrangements.
- Contribute to mortuary science practices by applying principles of anatomy, physiology, dissection, and embalming techniques under supervision.
- Maintain organization of funeral service technology systems, documentation, and records to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- Strong interest in funeral service with a desire to develop expertise in embalming, mortuary science principles, and funeral directing.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and sanitation practices related to mortuary work.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods.
- Effective communication skills to interact empathetically with clients and team members.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and manual handling safely.
- Valid driver’s license with experience operating company vehicles preferred.
- Willingness to learn about cremation processes and funeral event planning logistics.
- Prior customer service experience is advantageous but not required; training will be provided for all technical skills including funeral service technology and sales.
