Qualifications:
- BS in Construction-related curriculum or equivalent field experience.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of field experience in the commercial construction industry.
- OSHA 30 (Preferred), First Aid/CPR Certified and Trained (mandatory)
- Demonstrates leadership capabilities to manage and direct on-site project teams to successful completion.
- Procore Certification
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Desired Certifications: Forklift and Heavy Equipment, VA Registered Land Disturber, MDE E&S Green card

Assistant Superintendent Job Description
The Assistant Superintendent’s primary role is to support the project through daily onsite construction activities, ensuring safety requirements are met, quality standards are maintained, and project schedules are effectively tracked and followed to deliver successful outcomes on time and within budget. This position plays an active role in supporting field operations, including performing hands-on rough carpentry as needed to advance project progress and maintain quality standards.
The Assistant Superintendent will assist with trade contractor scheduling and coordination, quality control, project and look-ahead schedule review, and administration of the Request for Information process. This role requires strong problem-solving and communication skills, as well as a clear understanding of risk management related to Henley Construction and project outcomes.
The ability to plan work activities, identify and address safety concerns, and actively contribute to both supervisory and field work is essential. The Assistant Superintendent is expected to promote a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork across internal staff, partners, and trade contractors, while also engaging directly in rough carpentry tasks to support project execution when needed.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead safety measures in all areas and trades and perform safety audit checklist.
- Directly supervise self-perform field personnel for carpentry, concrete, demolition, and general labor.
- Maintaining miscellaneous materials required to sustain safety efforts and materials for self-performed work and coordinating the procurement of these items through the field office staff.
- Responsible for accurately producing and distributing Daily Reports.
- Responsible for maintaining awareness of shop drawing information and overseeing correct installations based on the contract documents and shop drawings/submittals.
- Assist in the implementation and ongoing execution of the Quality Control Program.
- Participate in job site subcontractor and Owner/ Architect/Contractor meetings to keep ahead of schedule and potential changes to the work.
- Help develop a "Pull Plan" schedule with a six-week "look ahead." Assist with oversight, adjustments, and coordination of the master schedule.
- Assist the Superintendent with documenting and controlling deliveries to the site via logistics plans, foreman's meetings, and project schedules. Provide delivery tickets, invoices, and receipts with descriptions to the project team.
- Assist with managing project changes and field conditions that result in scope or schedule changes. Document and communicate back to the project team.
- Monitor and verify work by marking up trade contractor work tickets to be signed by the Superintendent.
- Assist with site logistics coordination with owners/end users/trade contractors.
- The Assistant Superintendent may be assigned a small project as the sole superintendent or assigned to close out a more extensive project during the final stage of the project.
- The Assistant Superintendent may be assigned as the sole superintendent during off-hour shift work on a project.
- Attend morning team huddles and daily walkthroughs to document the day's activities.
- Problem-solving issues/conflicts at the site level. Provide constant communication to the project team.
- Monitor daily and weekly composite job site clean-ups.
Other duties as assigned to support the strategic priorities of Henley Construction.

- Have an excellent working knowledge of all project documents, including specifications, plans, submittals, subcontracts, shop drawings, and other project-specific documents.

- Able to communicate verbally, written, or electronically to all project team members.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and strategies for organizing all scopes, people, materials, tools, and equipment to manage the project successfully.
- Assist the Superintendent with managing, overseeing, and documenting all daily activities on the project site.
- Implement, maintain, and enforce the company’s quality control plan.
- Perform, upload, and maintain all company documentation requirements including, but not limited to, daily job reports, daily photographs, daily manpower reports, toolbox talks, progress plans, labor reports, etc.
- Assist in weekly/bi-weekly coordination meetings.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Willingness to travel in the market based on project location.
- Able to work in all outdoor elements, including heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc.
- Able to access all job site areas, including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, elevation changes, etc.
- Capable of working in physical positions, including kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc.
- Must be able to move, carry, or position items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Computer/Technology
- Proficient in using personal computers, including iPad/tablet devices.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Microsoft Word, Procore, and related construction software.
- Willing to learn about recent technologies with provided training.
